Before You Buy

The key points of our Terms of Use and Refund and Access Policy, in plain language.

1. Self-paced purchases are final. Courses start delivering content as soon as you buy, so individual courses, series and individual annual plans are not refundable. We always correct billing errors and access problems on our side.

2. Course access lasts 180 days. Individual courses and series are available for 180 days from purchase. Annual plans last 365 days.

3. Annual plans are one-time purchases. Each plan covers 365 days, and you are charged again only when you buy a new term. Boards and organizations get up to 45 days of continued access after the term ends while a renewal is processed.

4. You keep your records. When access ends, your account, progress, completion records and certificates stay on file. You can still view and download certificates you earned.

5. How to pass. Each knowledge check and final exam needs 70 percent or higher. Knowledge checks allow 4 attempts. Final exams, where a course has one, allow 2 attempts and have a time limit.

6. If you do not pass. You can take the course again by purchasing it again at full price. Not passing is not a reason for a refund.

7. Contact hours. Certificates show contact hours, the expected time for an average learner. Where a licensing or accrediting body has approved a course, its course page says so. Check with your board, agency or employer before relying on a certificate.

8. What annual plans include. Annual plans include every self-paced course in our catalog during the term, including higher-priced courses. They do not include Advanced Programs or instructor-led courses.

9. Board seats. Each seat belongs to one named person. Whole-board annual plans may replace a seat holder once per seat per term, handled by our staff. Progress does not transfer.

10. Organization purchases. Refunds for board, agency and organization purchases follow the signed agreement or purchase order.

11. Education, not advice. Courses are general education, not legal, financial or other professional advice.
